The Amp app has been deprecated. My short, but valuable journey with AMP as "DJ Kazerific" has come to an end on 31-OCT-2023 and this post is my final farewell. I diligently hosted a total of nine shows once a week for my AMP shows, "Kazerific," which focused on my personal music inspirations and the "All Rounders at SM Entertainment" show, which focused on highlighting the music of SM artists. I had an incredible journey on this app, which forced me into a commitment whether or not I had listeners or up to six listeners, which is my personal high amount on a show (not including myself because that is my husband's favorite question). I wanted to write about my experience even though the shows looked easy to create every week, but it was not easy. https://www.onamp.com/ no longer exists and is seemingly wiped off the internet. Kazerific Show #8
On Amp - What's up?
Welcome to the Kazerific radio show where you can listen to DJ Kazerific live on AMP and only until the end of this month as AMP has announced the closure of its service by the end of this month.
Unfortunately, AMP announced this month that AMP is closing down by 31-OCT-2023.
I will still be doing my shows for this month so please tune in to listen to this week's inspiration of K-pop, J-pop, Canto-pop, pop and beyond.
Listen live with the AMP's webplayer at On Amp (if my show is featured) or download the app. As a participant in Amp's referral program, I earn rewards when Amp accounts are created using my referral link.
You can also catch my replay show for two weeks on AMP by checking my profile and check out the replays section.
Next week will be my LAST show! If you are available, please support the very last show on AMP for the farewell show. I am thinking about also writing a farewell "behind the scenes on AMP" post to also close out this blog. I am not sure if I would ever revive this show on a different platform, but I am always open to opportunities if there is interest. Please look forward to the post after my show ends.
I also notice there is now a lack of K-pop shows on AMP. I guess all the AMP creators have left the platform in some way. I will still carry on until the end as my final contribution to AMP and also its listeners.
Below are songs that I have played on the Kazerific show.
Enhypen - Bite Me
I attended the Enhypen World Tour 'Fate' in U.S. at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Oct 19, 2023, the second New York show of the tour. It was a successful concert that was three hours long.
Accordingly to online news, Enhypen held send-off events on their US tour, which is an exclusive gathering where fans have the opportunity to meet and interact with their idols after a concert. However, this event became more out of control as more people were aware of it. I saw videos of fans pushing each other, pinching the cheeks of the members, touching their ears, etc. Enhypen ended up cancelling these events for safety. Fans were also leaving during the last three songs of the concert so that they could get a good spot for the send-off event despite Enhypen telling them not to leave.
I also noticed that probably because this was the second show in New York, Jake strained his voice. Enhypen mentioned that the Thursday concert was more lively. Yes, because I normally don't want to go to Wednesday concerts if I don't have to because Wednesday is right in the middle of the week and I have to go to work the next day. At least, on a Friday after a Thursday concert, I can relax a little bit, I hope.
TOZ - Magic Hour
TOZ is a Japanese boy band and a spin-off group from the Boys Planet reality competition survival show managed by YY Entertainment. The group consists of Boys Planet trainees Anthonny, Haruto, Yuto, and Takuto.
Meanwhile, other groups as a result of Boys Planet, ZEROBASEONE and EVNNE, are both nominated at the 2023 MAMA Awards (Mnet Asian Music Awards). I knew EVNNE would get a shot at year-end rewards!
ZEROBASEONE: Best Dance Performance Group, Artist of the Year, Best Song of the Year, Album of the year, Worldwide Fan's Choice, Best New Male Artist.
EVNNE: Artist of the year, Album of the year, Worldwide Fan's Choice, Best New Artist)
Eventually, TOZ will release K-pop music as well to conquer the Korean music scene.
JENNIE - You & Me
Two weeks ago, Jennie released new music. I haven't really played any BLACKPINK music on my show because they were so popular already on other K-pop shows on AMP. I tend to play something new to contribute to AMP society. Occasionally, I will also highlight songs from other shows that I think should get more attention.
I felt like this song is slow and interesting to watch about two people in their own world. We get the typical BLACKPINK style of "Look at you and look at me" type lyrics. I want to also mention the album art was created by Naoko Takeuchi, creator of Sailor Moon. Jennie is a lucky woman.
PENTAGON - Pado (wave to me)
Pado is the sixth Japanese mini album by PENTAGON. It was released on 30-AUG-2023 with "Pado (Wave to Me)" serving as the album's title track. As I mentioned in last week's show, Pentagon plans to stay together after their contract ends with Cube with some members staying and most members leaving Cub Entertainment to pursue other opportunities.
The title song and concept reminds me of NCT U's Pado song, which is also released earlier this year.
LIGHTSUM - Honey or Spice
LIGHTSUM is a six member group from Cube Entertainment. The title song and concept reminds me of Aespa's "Sweet and Salty" song that was released earlier in the year. Maybe Aespa's concept is more like college girl level while LIGHTSUM is high school level.
The song is talking about two sides of a woman: a sweet side and a spicy side.
ONF - Goosebumps
I wanted to highlight at least one ONF song before I close my show. I figured "Goosebumps" would be a great song to play during the Halloween season. ONF is a group in which the original concept would be members being split into two teams: ON team, which is the vocals team and OFF team, which is the rap team. Three members are in each team. There is a seventh member, who is probably the all-rounder who can switch in between the teams. However, the seventh member left the group so ONF remains a six-member group.
Goosebumps is a song that talks about somebody giving them Goosebumps. I'm not quite sure if this is a good or bad thing as goosebumps somehow pierce their blood, but they get a thrill out of it. This is a good Halloween song, right?
Stephanie Poetri - I Love You 3000
Minji of NewJeans recently covered this song two weeks ago and it just reminded me of this original song all over again. I actually didn't know about this song until a long time ago when Jungwon of Enhypen recommended this song. When I first listened to this song, I fell in love with it. It was really pure and sweet. I still believe in love and fairytale endings.
I didn't watch a few of the Marvel movies, but eventually I understood the reference that one ton is the equivalent to 2000 lbs. If you love somebody 3000, that means it is more than a ton, if you could measure love in weight.
I will also post Minji from NewJeans' version.
Britney Spears - Everytime
Britney Spears’ new memoir, The Woman in Me, is about to be released on 24-OCT-2023. Due to the explosive details regarding Justin Timberlake and the abortion of their child, I think the public in general was shocked and sad. I have seen many people on X highlighting the song "Everytime" and how Britney was touching her stomach.
This also led me to karaoke this song at home several times. However, no matter how I sing this song, I didn't capture the same mood and tone as Britney and that is why I think Britney is special.
Enhypen - One In A Billion
Enhypen sung this song also in their previous concert in New York, but it never gets old.
This song is part of the soundtrack for DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTER (Webtoon).
I love the rock sound that comes out of it and it seems to be an explosive song. Enhypen really did the vampire concept well. Even their stage on concert is shaped like a coffin.
BTS - Dope
Continuing the BTS Book review from last week, it seems like every album that came out for BTS was a struggle. What I thought were love songs like "I Need U," "Run," and "Spring Day" were actually about their struggles. Yes, it ended up sounding like a love song, but in reality, it was about their struggles. I also know that it is through difficult and painful feelings can an artist bring out their best work because if one hasn't struggled in life, it is hard to produce a great song.
Dope (쩔어 pronounced "jjeoreo") has two meanings with the first meaning being awesome, but in this song, it takes on the second meaning, which means drenched with sweat. I love the saxophone in the chorus part. There's even sheet music for it for saxophone players on the internet.
I am only up to chapter five in the BTS book. I will see if I can finish the book by next week so I can talk about it on my final show.
Enhypen - Karma
The "Dont give a what" was really popular during the concert so this was a song that was repeated throughout the concert. Actually, this phrase has been used a lot in K-pop music, but I just didn't notice until Jessi's song where she mentioned it a lot, but I noticed it first in the song, "NUNU NANA."
I like this rebel side of Enhypen and I think everybody needs their rebel side to release all the pressure that is put upon them. For this song, I do "give a what."
Jessi also mentioned in a recent interview, Jessi hasn't created any new songs since she left her previous company. She wanted to create more songs to convey her personal feelings instead of songs that would be popular with the public. Wishing her the best in the journey to write her own music with her creativity.
All songs have been added to my ever growing playlist on Youtube:
Questions, constructive comments, and constructive feedback welcome.
I hope you enjoy my show so far. Next week will be my LAST show on AMP. Please try to attend if you can to celebrate this show itself and my journey on AMP comes to a conclusion Thank you for your support.
