My Two-Month Experience using Amazon's AMP

The Amp app has been deprecated. My short, but valuable journey with AMP as "DJ Kazerific" has come to an end on 31-OCT-2023 and this post is my final farewell. I diligently hosted a total of nine shows once a week for my AMP shows, "Kazerific," which focused on my personal music inspirations and the "All Rounders at SM Entertainment" show, which focused on highlighting the music of SM artists. I had an incredible journey on this app, which forced me into a commitment whether or not I had listeners or up to six listeners, which is my personal high amount on a show (not including myself because that is my husband's favorite question). I wanted to write about my experience even though the shows looked easy to create every week, but it was not easy. https://www.onamp.com/ no longer exists and is seemingly wiped off the internet. AMP is owned by Amazon.com, Inc. and was launched in March 2022 to allow creators to host their own talk or music show. Listen...

Kazerific Show #6

On Amp - What's up?

Welcome to the Kazerific radio show where you can listen to DJ Kazerific live on AMP and only until the end of this month as AMP has announced the closure of its service by the end of this month.

I also found out during my travels that in addition to the USA, AMP app is working in South Korea, which is pretty cool.

I will still be doing my shows for this month so please tune in to listen to this week's inspiration of K-pop, C-pop, J-pop, and beyond.

Listen live with the AMP's webplayer at On Amp (if my show is featured) or download the app. As a participant in Amp's referral program, I earn rewards when Amp accounts are created using my referral link.

You can also catch my replay show for two weeks on AMP by checking my profile and check out the replays section.

You probably heard that there was an announcement this week that AMP is closing down by 31-OCT-2023.

Honestly, AMP recently send me an email to promote people to sign up for an account with an incentive and what just happened?

I am sad and devastated and will probably writing a farewell post dedicated to AMP. This leads me to once again think about where my life is going and what path I should take.

On the side, I wanted to mention that I found out recently what the term, IJBOL, means. It means "I just burst out laughing." I guess youngsters today are using this term instead of LOL (Laugh Out Loud). Personally, I like LOL more as it is shorter to type and conveys my thoughts sufficiently.

Below are songs that I have played on the Kazerific show.

Kang Min Kyung, Choi Jung Hoon - Because We Loved

This song was featured on the "Begin Again Season 5: Intermission (2023)" show. I watched some of the show on the airplane. I thought Min Kyung from the duo Davichi and Choi Jung Hoon, from the now duo band, Jannabi are so cute together. Fans don't seem to agree, texting Jung Hoon not go get so close to Min Kyung, but I'd say it is all in good fun.

넬 NELL - "The Time of Walking on Rememberance" aka "Time Spent Walking in Memories"

This song was also covered in the "Begin Again Season 5: Intermission" show. My favorite cover of this song is somehow Sungkyu's version, which I will also post if you are interested.

Everyone who participates in the Begin Again show, so far that I have seen, are great and talented singers. I notice that even seasoned professionals are nervous to sing in such an intimate setting with the audience not too far away from them.

Infinite's Sunkyu's version:

NewJeans - Super Shy

I dedicate this song to my daughter, who has mastered the lyrics of Super Shy and can sing it karaoke style as needed. Since she sang it so many times while I was in Korea, I will list it here.

Tomorrow x Together - Do It Like That

Stemming from the MTV Video Music Awards, I focused and continue to like TXT songs such as "Do It Like That." This song is totally re-playable.

EVNNE - Trouble

It was the hottest debut from before I left for Korea. I can really see myself dancing to the chorus and the house music. One reviewer called it "Baltimore Club" (house) music. I'm thinking this group can win year-end awards for this song. This group was created from the popular survival competition reality show, Boys Planet, that aired earlier in the year. Since these boys didn't make it to the final line-up, they are given a second chance to debut in this group, EVNNE. What is amazing about this is that it takes the cooperation of three different companies to make it happen since the members are from the following companies: Jellyfish Entertainment, Yuehua Entertainment, and the Rain Company. The end result quality of the debut is amazing.

ZEROBASEONE - In Bloom

It wouldn't be right to not talk about the original winners and the group that was created from Boys Planet, ZEROBASEONE. I wasn't fond of their song too much, but you can tell there will be some indirect competition here as they released this debut song earlier in the year. However, I do not have the year end show awards feeling for this song.

Jeon Somi - Fast Forward

I really came to appreciate this song late in the game. Before I left for Korea, I started putting this song on replay. I haven't been a Jeon Somi fan previously, but I appreciate this song.

Enhypen - One and Only

This is also another song I came to appreciate late after its release. I was watching Enhypen's recent "En-O'Clock" show where this song was played. This was a collaboration song with the Pokémon Music Collective.

NewJeans - Zero

I actually heard of this song on another AMP show and I really liked it. It is a song for the Korean Coca-Cola's Coca-Cola Zero Sugar's campaign.

V (BTS) - Slow Dancing

I came to appreciate this song. It's a different song to me. A lot of people assume that I like BTS simply because I like K-pop music, and I do like BTS, but not to the extend of most fans. I only sometimes listen to BTS and I do appreciate some of their songs. I will always remember a co-worker telling me to have a "smooth like butter" trip to Korea.

EVNNE - Role Model

I figure that I will also mention EVVNE's other promoted B-side song, Role Model. I like their album.

AKMU - Love Lee
My husband explained this song to me while I was in Korea. The song, "Love Lee" is about a person named "Love Lee." The person's name is translated to Love in English, but is the word, 사랑 Sarang, which means Love. The person's surname is Lee so it's actually Lee Sarang, but a play on words to make it "Love Lee" (surname first, then first name is the format of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese names) with a double meaning of the word, "lovely." AKMU is an abbreviation of Akdong Musicians.

Taeyang - 눈,코,입 (EYES, NOSE, LIPS)

This song was played a lot of AMP shows. I also appreciated this song featured on the "Fantastic Duo" show where Taeyang and a non-celebrity sang an awesome version of it. I will feature that version here as well.

As seen on the "Fantastic Duo" show as a duet.

Shota Shimizu - Fire

This song was featured on the NCT Universe: NCT LASTART show and a song I appreciated after I start reviewing the show on my other blog, Wehaiyo. NCT New Team's Riku is going to perform the song again during their pre-debut tour in Japan starting today.

All songs have been added to my ever growing playlist on Youtube:
