You probably heard that there was an announcement this week that AMP is closing down by 31-OCT-2023.
The news is devastating for me. I will have to cherish the time I have left on AMP for the month. I will still continue hosting Sunday shows until the end of October so if you haven't heard of my show yet, now is the time to join and listen.
There was an article recently from Allkpop that states that SM Entertainment was registered as "Star Museum" Entertainment from their IPO in 2000. I always thought that SM stands for "Soo Man" Entertainment, which was named after the founder of SM Entertainment, Lee Soo Man. In several videos featuring SM discussions, this was mentioned that SM stood for "Soo Man," but perhaps this is unofficial information. Either way, this is a shocker.
I wanted to talk about the bomb that was dropped last week regarding the line-up of NCT New Team. My favorite member, Jungmin, was reported to drop out of the NCT New Team and become a trainee again at SM Entertainment. This news had devastated me last week and I was in shock for many days. I don't understand why Jungmin couldn't take the time to recuperate like Jaemin did in NCT Dream. He can always rejoin the team later in my opinion. I felt dropping out of the team was too extreme. In the end, I wish him and also the NCT New Team the best as NCT New Team has started their pre-debut promotion and shows in Japan. There was also another article recently that SM Entertainment has trademarked the term "NCT Zone," but I hope that will not be the new group name. I hope they have a different group name.
Below are some songs that I have played on the "All Rounders at SM Entertainment" show.
Taeyong featuring Wendy - Move Mood Mode
I wanted to play this song since two weeks ago, but could not fit it into my show. Now, is the perfect time.
Exo - Cinderella
I was listening to so many songs on the Korean Air flight and this was one of the songs I listened to on the plane. I like it! That crazy synthetic sound really got me.
NCT Dream - Like We Just Met
This was also another song that I was listening to the Korean Air flight. It sounds so emotional. I am touched.
Jaehyun - Forever Only
I like this song the best out of Jaehyun's solo songs. It sounds very sincere.
BE'O, Seulgi - Bad Boy, Sad Girl
I have no idea where I got the inspiration to play this song, but after hearing it, I really loved it. It was probably in Youtube where I discovered this song.
Red Velvet - Automatic
I made a mistake in thinking I was playing the "Be Natural" song from Red Velvet. Both songs have about the same vibe. Therefore, please ignore what I said about this being a cover song and next week, I will play the "Be Natural" song.
Automatic is still a great song as well. I feel very chill listening to it.
I still like Red Velvet's slow songs. October is really Red Velvet month because of their strange and shocking music videos. I will definitely play more Red Velvet music this month.
Exo - Love Fool
This was another song I was listening to on the airplane. Exo's newest album, Exist, is awesome. I didn't pay too much attention before, but now I have paid attention to it.
Red Velvet - Sunny Side Up!
It's a song that I have never heard of and I am happy that I found this song as I am appreciating it right now. I will try to cheer up after so much bad news lately.
SHINee - Atlantis
I haven't played SHINee in a while and this is a song that I discovered later on in SHINee's career and I was surprised at how great the song is to listen and add to my song collection. There is really nothing SHINee cannot do. There is powerful belting going on in this song, a trademark of SHINee.
Taeyeon - 스트레스 Stress
I couldn't find any official video for this, so play accept the unofficial version, which may be taken off Youtube. This song seems to be one of Taeyeon's powerful songs and wow, lyrics like "you got me smoking cigarettes"? Taeyeon? Are you okay?
I feel like AMP is giving me stress from the bomb dropped in the past week.
Red Velvet - Bye Bye
This song was more powerful than I thought. I am considering to replay this for my last show on AMP. The song is a bit creepy-sounding when they sing "Bye Bye."
D.O. - Somebody
New title song from D.O. His album looks promising. This song sounds really romatic.
NCT 127 - Fact Check (불가사의; 不可思議)
Newest music from NCT 127. At first, I wasn't fond of the song, but after a few listens, they always manage to hook me into the song and now I have it on repeat. I forgot to mention that the Chinese title part of it means "Cannot imagine, cannot fathom" so I wonder why the song was named that way, but I found it interesting that they also gave it a Korean and Chinese title.
NCT Dream - 泡泡糖 (Chewing Gum)
Recently, Chenle and Rejun of NCT Dream was on a Chinese variety show called "It Sounds Incredible" (Season 3) - 听说很好吃. They talk about the types of Chinese foods that they like to eat and compete alongside Chefs to make the best dish. It was so fun to see them perform the Chinese version of Chewing gum again. As Chenle mentioned on a live broadcast, he would like to go on more Chinese shows in the future and that would be fun. Chenle also appeared on this same Chinese show when he was 9 years old. From what he says, his family fed him Chinese food well when he came to Korea as a trainee.
NCT Dream - Beatbox (English Version)
It's been a while since NCT Dream's USA concert did I hear the English version of "Beatbox." I welcome it. Chenle and Renjun also sang this song for the "It Sounds Incredible" Chinese variety show.
All songs have been added to my ever growing playlist on Youtube:
